How is God calling you to plant new churches? That’s a question two Nebraska pastors took home with them following a conference in Kansas City in 2007.
They began praying over the state seeking God’s direction. They continually felt God leading them to Columbus. A few years later another pastor moved to Omaha and often times commuted through Columbus. He too felt God leading him to help start a church in the community. When these men got connected they began to strategize how this might happen. One thing was certain, they needed to partner with an organization that understood church planting.
These men are now a part of a group known as the 1:8 Network and the organization they partnered with is Nexus. Nexus has only been around since 2006 and has already planted over 30 churches with a success rate of 90%. That is tremendous! They chalk up their success to good assessment of potential planters, training of the planters, and an ongoing coaching partnership throughout the early years of the new church.
The next challenge was finding the right guy to plant the new church. After praying together the team contacted Mike Moser who had been pastoring a church in Redwood Falls, MN for the last 9 years. What the team didn’t know was that Mike had been challenged by God to start a new church. It didn’t take the team long to figure out they had the right guy.
After moving to the Columbus area, Mike knew he needed a ministry partner to lead worship. At the same time Josh Muehlbaur was feeling God was leading him towards another ministry after 4 years in Huron, SD. God has orchestrated each step amazingly. There is no doubt that God has been working to plant a new church in Columbus, NE.
